Mission
Statement:
Houston Baptist University Alumni Art Guild (AAG), supported and
encouraged by the HBU Alumni Association and the HBU Art Department
faculty, shall inspire, educate and entertain audiences by providing
both the finest venue for the visual arts and a wide range of
professionally excellent and artistically significant presentations. It
shall also serve as a resource for the
Houston
community at large.
Vision:
The AAG will bring together the organized efforts of interested alumni
to encourage participation more fully in the life of the University, to
provide information about
Houston
Baptist
University
and to facilitate association among alumni of the same community.
Informed and interested alumni bring added strength to the University in
its pursuit of excellence. All HBU alumni having interest in the visual
arts are invited to participate in this relationship by joining the
Alumni Art Guild. The AAG will benefit its members, the University,
and the community by serving, informing, and contributing to the quality
and progress of the visual arts program of
Houston
Baptist
University
.
Description:
The AAG will promote the visual arts with a special emphasis placed on
academic traditions and craftsmanship, to produce and promote creative
exhibitions that foster understanding and interpretation of the
traditional art heritage, and to furnish educational opportunities in
the visual arts. The AAG fosters a vibrant and diverse network of
alumni, capable of providing meaningful financial and volunteer support
advancing the collaborative interests of the alumni and the University
through a joint commitment to excellence in a lifelong relationship.

Promotes
the visual arts in keeping with the context of the mission of
Houston
Baptist
University
.

Supports
and promotes
Texas
history and heritage by providing historical and environment-related
painting events and special themed exhibitions, as well as lectures and
informative publications, e.g., newsletters and exhibition catalogues.

Maintains
a sense of camaraderie for fellow artists and their patrons.
·
Acts
as a service and information bureau for artists, collectors, museums,
dealers, art historians and the press.
·
Seeks
to educate the worldwide public on the merits of traditional fine art.
·
Aims
to reach an increasingly broader audience and expand Patron Membership
by offering numerous opportunities for involvement in the world of
art.
